British Open - Task 3

The weather forecast predict decreasing wind speed, so we go to take off and look for the task. The task for today was 81 km to the north and back to Saint Andre. Day was very strong and cloud base was in some places close to 4000. It was very cold in the air so I was happy to have my down jacket on. I’m happy today with my start - was high and after I have chosen good line. Still the mantra guys where slowly more and more in front of me. On 2 turn point, when going back to Saint Andre, we hit strong front wind and sink so group split in to 2 groups. One was pushing in to the lee side of mountains in north and I decided to go to the on-wind ridges on the left side of the valley. We easily climbed up there and I decided to stay on the left. Some pilots went back to the right side. I was always paying attention on altitude. It was very important for me to get the goal. It looks like I was 2 girl in the goal and 47 overall, so not perfect but still satisfying.

British PG Open Saint Andre les Alps

Due to some issues in Spain I managed to arrive only around 7 oclock today in the morning. It meant I have 1 hour of sleep till registration finish and general briefing. On the way it was very strong wind so I did hope there will be no task today. The weather made us a window of couple of hours without wind and running a task was possible. 62 km task was seated. I took off later as I was so tired I needed more time to weak up and prepare my stuff. Wind was already strong but nice to take off. Thermal activity was good but sinks in between where strong as well. As usually it happen to me I feel low just before start cylinder opening and couldn’t be on time high there. There was nothing left then fly with people I just meat on the way and to get to the goal. Winds started to be strong thermals as well but still flyable. When I was 11 km sort of goal the task was stopped due to strong wind in lauding. When the task was stopped it speared I was in leading between the girls, but other where around. The rule of stopping the task in this comp was minus 10 min from the moment of stopping so it put me 10 back and on place 4 between the girls.

Womens PG Open - Task 5

The worst happen. I’m ill. Very ill. I’m not able to think to move to breath and just coughing. Even I wasn’t able to put the task proper way and I blow the start. So I have a nominal distance today. What more the gorge on east of Ager cached me this time and didn’t relies so I ended up landing on tiny tainy field by soling the glider. For tomorrow the weather doesn’t look promising so I hope I will manage to hell till British Open next week in St. Andre.

Womens P Open Task 3

Today we got next task. As the weather forecast was saying no clouds, but bather thermal activity than yesterday it was decided for 48 km task with 2 turn points on the ridge and than safely turn point castle on the way to the goal on the lake in north. When the window opened we could see that first clouds are coming from the west. It was clear that some other air mase is moving in and the day will be much bather then predicted. I took off and after gaining of some altitude - just to be above the ridge, I have flown toward the start marker. Sun as I thought on beginning of the window conditions improved and with nice strong thermals we could climb high. After race started we went long the upon ridge toward the 2 turn point. Kristy was pushing a lot so I got no chose then to push too. I cached bather line then she to the point and we took it together with young French pilot on sky eris. I found strong thermal which catapultatet me to the cloud and I went alone as I was highest toward 3 turn point. I sow girls going behind me. I found strong thermal again and decided to make the maximum here to reach the goal with no risk. Obviously Bea from Spain got different idea and she just went further. We with eris girl we made top and started to race thru turn-point to the goal. Long final glide of over 14 km. I pushed 50 % when I sow Kristi coming very fast from behind. I got no other chose then push more so I went for maximum I could push - still not 100%. It was very hard to kip the speed bar for so long pressed. I thought Bea will never make to the goal with the altitude she left, but it did work. She was 1 in goal today, 2 Eris girl, 3 Kristi and I was 4 on the end. The goal on the lake was beautiful. I believe over 20 finished the task, so there where many happy faces in the field. What’s the most important here.

Womens PG Open - Task 2

Today we got short task of 37 km with very early take off at 11:30 and start 12:15. The decision was due strong west wind predicted to come in on afternoon. I take off as almost last. It was very hard to kip the altitude. I was soaring for long time on take off but it was time to go direction to start marker. I went but I didn’t found any lift on the ridge and was lower and lower and on the end I landed before race started. I couldn’t nothing about it. After we made some safari to look for girls around. Tomorrow another day.

Womens PG Open

Today we got first task of 53 km. As it usually happen in the moment window was announced as open wind picked up radically. It wasn’t possible to take off. Before anyone could take off MD closed the window and called for new briefing after 5 min. After 20 min the wind dropped down again. We got new times and window was opening again. Again it became strong but not that strong like before. After the take off it was pretty raff. Since I got 2200 m was nice but still strong thermals. Whole the flight long I tried to be high. 2 girls where pushing in front very low whole the time. I was mostly next to Kirsty Camerun who pushed a lot as well but in opposite to the other girls she was always having the altitude reserve. Because of racing with her I almost landed down of the safety turn point before the goal. I was lucky to climb and I managed to complet the task. In the moment Kristi overtook me as i managed to leave her behind and she was the 1 in goal. I was 2.
Tomorrow weather looks good as well so I luck for next task.
