First valid task

Today we had first valid task - 47 km. Task committee decided elapsed time, what means each pilot got individual time, and not as usual with one start time. We should take of from Mount Bora, then fly 30something km behind Manilla and come back to Manilla for goal. It wasn’t easy to take off. On north take off wind was blowing from side, so we decided to change for west one.
Conditions there were great. We got to the cloudbase without any problem. As usual in this situations everybody was waiting above the take off and nobody wanted to risk and go in front. I knew if we wait too long we don’t come to goal so I decided to go anlone. There was nice cloud line so I didn’t saw to much risk in that. I hoped if some one see me in front decide to follow me and I will have company. After some kilometers I saw one Boomerang 5 in front. When I got to him I realised it’s Gin Team head Charles Casau. We flew together our own line. Unfortunately when we got above Manilla there was blue sky and no thermals.
I flew so low that I thought I will land on the goal without the 1st turnpoint. Luckily for me there was a thermal and I managed to get out of 300 meters. I managed to catch up Charles and we continued flight together. After a while came some of the pilots of the group which had flown another way. It wasnt easy to get to that turn point. After long fighting we managed it and started last part of the flight. I got the goal with good reserve of altitude. On the ground waited already Pawel and Krzysztof. I’m so happy! We wait now for the results so we still don’t know how good we have been.

I won Manilla XC!

After one day break I flu one more task which was the last one. I manage to fly 102 km. It was the strongest day of hole. Dust devils where everywhere. But cloud base was hay enough so I was in secure. You can not even imagine how big pressure you have in the head in this kind of competitions. You think hole the time if others manage to do more km then you. You need wait till evening for results or even till next day because pilots are coming back from the task till laity night hoers. I was weary nervous wail we waited for the final results. Dorothea was just few point behind me and today I sow her landing 10 km further then me. Till the last minute I wasn’t sour ho will be first. But when I herd that she is the second I was so happy! My firs competition this season and I wan! Here you have some pictures from closing ceremony  .picture-374_edit_070122.jpg

. I will write soon more about our house and how it is here in Australia…

Manilla XC

Sorry I write just now. We live here in the middle of nowhere and we don’t have internet access. Still it’s beautiful place. Our house is in the middle of fields. There are some small mountains around. Parret’s are waking us up every morning and during retrieval we see a lot of kangaroos. Colours are so clear and view is so wonderful.

For everybody ho had herd about Ewa’s accident don’t worry I wasn’t flying on that day. I stock on airport in Vancouver. My airline forgot to tell me that we will have lauding in Hawaii so I got no visa for U.S. and I couldn’t continue my flight. I pended more then 30 hoers on organizing visa and with big help of Polish Consulate in Vancouver, Gotfray (big boss of Manilla flying site) and some other friends, who I’m so grateful for thus help, I got it and I could continue my trip to Australia. We manage to mace impossible and we got U.S. visa in 8 hoers. You should see face of emigration officer on airport, when I came on next day with visa.

After so much stress I slept like an baby in the plain. We get safety in to Sydney and then I took train to Manilla. Straight on next day I went to fly.

We have had 6 tasks up till now. Lucky for me first one wasn’t valid so I didn’t miss anything. In the first day I made my first 100 km. For the comp counted 107 or something but we didn’t fly straight line so for online contest I will get 130 km. Second day was brilliant and I managed to do 160 km. 3rd day wasn’t so nice but I managed to do 114 km.
I thought I will manage to get above forest but I didn’t and landed on the side of it. Because of that I walked for 2 hours and my retrieval team was looking for me one more. Pretty tired on the next day we flew again and again 100 km. Today I landed after 15 km. I was so tired that I went straight back home and fell asleep.

Right now I’m leading in the overall of the ladies and I’ 2 in serial. It’s so cool. Wish me luck that I manage to keep my position.

australia-survival-set.JPG

Now it takes just a few days for leaving to Australia. First I will take part in Manilla XC. As I saw on pilot list that there will be strong girl’s concurrence. Even some World Cup ladies signed in, so wish me luck. I can’t wait to take this advantage!

After this event we stay in Manilla for World Championship. It will be my first one so I’m quite excited. Poland will be represented by: Rafal Luckos, Pawel Faron, Krzysztof Ziolkowski and me. Unfortunately Walter Wojciechowski is still waiting for confirmation for place, we hope he will be able to join us. Our friend, Robert Zbela, was so nice and offered his help. He will be our ground service. We are all grateful for you, Robert. Thank you so much!

Of course I will keep you informed how I’m doing.
