Day 6>Task 2 : Friday 2nd March : 60.7km

After a few days of storms and monsoonal drought breaking rain the day was going to be slow and in need of careful route planning. A 60.7kms task along the ridges was set to reduce the chance of bomb outs in the wet flatlands. 24 pilots made goal including 2 of the worlds best female pilots in the top 5.

Klaudia made 55.5 km and at least 520 points in the overall female list she is now 4th. Not Bad!
Hope there are more tasks.
Go ahead Klaudia!! ;)

More Polish pilots:
33 ZIOLKOWSKI, Krzysztof (Axis Mercury)
47 WOJCIECHOWSKI, Walter (UP Targa 2)
72 BULGAKOW, Klaudia (Gin Boomerang Sport)
101 FARON, Pawel (MAC Para Magus)
143 LUCKOS, Rafal (UP Targa 3)

We waited on the take off until last possible moment to take off. Everybody who tried it before disappeared low down and landed. I put of my equipment and walked from one side of the hill to the other. Everywhere was the same disaster. Finely Pawel took off on the west side and flew very low. We thought he will land when we saw him thermaling up near east take off. When pilots on that take off saw him they took off one by one and started thermaling in very weak condition. It was nice to observe them but I didn’t want to be there in the middle. Too weak for so many people and too low above the ground. After a couple of minutes some pilots took off from the east side and started to soaring and they catch first real thermal this day. I put on my equipment really fast and run to that side. After a few minutes I was under the cloud. Just after I left the ground I hit strong thermal and get up easly. The task was followed first to the north to the end of ridge and then to the south far on the flats. After that we should fly to montains on the west of Manilla and finally to the goal in Manilla East.

During whole task conditions hve been very weak. We fighted for the each meter. It was difficult to get on the front of the peleton so we flew in two big groups. Just before when we were on the way to second turn point I saw one small group in front of us. But they were very low. There were no thermal anywhere so it look’s like final glide. When we get above Manilla we found some weak thermal. It was difficult to thermal with more than 50 pilots in such weak conditions. We weren’t going up but weren’t falling down as well. In a thermal ahead I saw a second group of pilots, much smaller then other so I decided to fly to them. Unfortunately it was my big mistake. I manage only to make last turn point and I landed 4 km short to goal. Then I saw a big group of pilots flying above my head. Some of them manage to get the goal. Most of them landed between 4km and 300 m. before the goal. I was little upset. I should be more patient and stay with the big group.
Tomorrow is another day!
